At 15:00 on March 14, the 2022 "Master Lecture Series" jointly sponsored by the School of Mathematical Sciences and the Institute of Applied Systems Analysis of Jiangsu University started on schedule in Cloud. The guest speaker of this lecture was Professor Sun Binyong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from the Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics of Zhejiang University, who is a renowned international research expert in the field of algebra. More than eighty teachers and students attended this lecture, including Prof. Zhang Zhitao, Prof. Wang Jun and Prof. Xia Limang from Jiangsu University, and Associate Professor Tan Yilan. The report was hosted by Dean Zhang Zhitao of the Academy of Mathematical Sciences.

Academician Bingyong Sun gave a wonderful lecture on "Lie groups and their representations - introduction and examples". Firstly, he introduced the Lie group from the classical Fourier analysis and its symmetry, and introduced some examples of classical Lie groups; secondly, he introduced the Lie group representation and some classical examples, and pointed out its relationship with Fourier transform and wavelet analysis. Finally, he introduces three fundamental problems in the Lie group representation, focusing on the construction of the integrable representation and its basic method, the theory of Theta correspondence, as well as his latest research results.

In the report, Academician Sun elaborated some profound connections between Li Qun and his representation and physics as well as other branches of mathematics, reflecting his profound mathematical skills. His informative, well-organized and rigorously argued report aroused great interest and attention of the students and teachers present.

      After the presentation, Academician Sun gave patient and detailed answers to the questions of concern. President Zhang Zhitao made a concluding speech on the lecture.
