Recently, the results of the 2021 American College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were announced. The students of Jiangsu University (JSU) made great achievements again. 2 teams won the special prize nomination prizes, 3 teams won the first prize, and 2 teams won the second prizes.

MCM/ICM is the only international mathematical modeling competition and the most influential mathematical modeling competition in the world. It aims to evaluate competitors’ abilities of comprehensive mathematical science, English expression, academic paper writing and application innovation. In 2021, the event attracted 26112 teams from Cambridge University, Columbia University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and other universities in China, the United States, Australia, Canada and other countries and regions.

Since the launch of the competition in Dec. 2020, the mathematical modeling coaching team of JSU has conducted systematic pre competition training for the contestants. Through offline course teaching, winter vacation centralized training, English competition paper writing guidance, online pre-competition simulation training, remote guidance and so on, promoting students’ competitiveness and laying a good foundation for the excellent achievements.

In recent years, JSU has attached great importance to the practice and innovation activities of mathematical modeling competitions, cultivated students’ scientific spirit and innovative abilities to fully unleash their potentials. JSU has developed a new model of education and gradually formed a training model with the basic course training, closed winter and summer vacation training and individual-specific expanding training through scientific planning.
